'Dalit' has come into increasingly widerusage in the press and in common parlance where it is normally used in theoriginal, narrower, caste-based sense. However, thepioneers who worked for the liberation of the Dalits and other backward classeshave propagated the principles of equality, justice, liberty and rationality. Thisbroad-based standpoint is widely accepted among the Dalits. There is, however,much discussion and dispute on them means of attaining these ideas of socialjustice. This problem is worsened by the multiple divisions existing in theDalit ranks. All these issues have been discussed in this book indetail.
