This is the Ninth Volume of the series Cross-Currents of Indian History and Culture and deals with the theme India Since Independence : The Reality and the Vision.
The builders of modern India since the days of Raja Rammohan Roy onwards crusaded against the social, political and economic ills of the country and presented a vision of future India in their own perspective. Their vision has not fructified The book analyses the present scenario and suggests a blueprint for reforming the system.
The authors would particularly like to invite the attention of their readers to the second part of the book wherein Sri Aurobindo's vision of India has been presented through his writings.

A.N.Kapoor : After obtaining M.A.,D. Phil. in English from Allahabad University, Dr. Kappor taught English at Agra and Delhi University for over four decades and has edited, compiled and authored more than hundred titles including reference books, encyclopadias and language dictionaries.His dictionary of geographical terms published in 1955 was the first work of its kind in Hindi.
