Eminent Konkani writer Damodar Mauzo received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel Karmelini n 1983. He is also the recipient of Katha Award for Creative Fiction 1998, the Best Dialogue Award at the Goa State Film Festival 1997, the Goa Kala Academy Award and Konkani Bhasha Mandal Award. His works have been translated into many Indian languages and French.
Xavier Cota is a well-known writer, translator and social activist based in Goa.
