"Mosaik" is a three-part intermediate German programme designed to help students develop proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening. The series consists of a core grammar text, a cultural and literary reader and a work book. Each chapter in this volume is divided into two sections (literature and culture). Exercises and activities based around the readings encourage students to explore aspects of German literature and culture, and to stimulate them to develop their vocabulary. Among the works from which selections have been taken are: Heine's "Harzreise"; Tucholsky's "Die Apotheke"; Hesse's "Wanderung"; Plenzdorf's "Die Neuen Leiden"; Verhoeven's "Die Weisse Rose"; Lodemann's "Bettgeschichte"; and Bernard's "Ereignisse".
