The second edition retains almost all the material in the first edition. Major changes take place in chapters. To the chapter on Group Theory, new sections on abelian groups, finite abelian groups and solvable groups, nilpotent groups and perfect groups have been added. These are discussed at proper places to link the matter in lucid and coherent manner. To the chapter of Ring Theory, new sections on special class of rings, quotient field, maximal and prime ideal are included. To the chapter on vector space, new sections on inner product spaces and R-Modules are included. Several solved examples which are important from conceptual point of view as well as from examination point of view are given at proper places. At the end of each section, graded problems are added. I hope this will serve the purpose of users in its best capacity. About The Author: Dr. B.S. Vatsa is a retired professor of Mathematics from St. John College Agra. He had taught Algebra & Analysis to graduate and postgraduate classes for approximately four decades. He did his Ph.D. in coding theory and published many papers in international journals.
