Galileo Chini (1873-1956) was one of the most important protagonists of a rich season of Italian decorative arts that went from the end of the 19th century to the 1930s. A figure of absolute prominence both in the Liberty period and in the subsequent Art Deco period, he proved capable of uniting the new modernist instances with his own solid Tuscan roots in a very personal and fascinating mix.
This volume offers an analysis of his activity as a ceramist, reading it within the international context of the decorative arts, and demonstrates how he was perceived as an artist and an innovator also in the foreign countries, first of all through major international exhibitions.
