I am 41 years old and reside in Jackson, Tennessee. Jackson is located approximately an hour and 15 minutes east of Memphis and an hour and a half west of Nashville.
I suffer from Asperger's Syndrome / Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is because of this I have this rare gift of geography.
I started navigating my mother around Memphis, Tennessee at 7, Nashville, Tennessee at 9, and Atlanta, Georgia at 12, sometimes with a map, sometimes by memory! At 16, we took a trip to Wisconsin and travelled through Chicago, Illinois, I navigated my mother through there, not just through there but around there in order to see the Willis (then the Sears) Tower.
I started drawing my own maps at 12, and in college was drawing my own detailed highway plans and sending them to state officials.
Included within this book are some examples.
