The purpose of this document, as an Abnormal Situation Management (ASM) Consortium guideline document, is to communicate the ASM Consortium recommendations for effective change management in human-machine interface (HMI) development projects in the process control industry. These guidelines can be used to assess the quality of a company's change management practices from the perspective of their potential impact on HMI design effectiveness and end-user acceptance of HMI design changes. The ASM Consortium encourages industry practitioners to use this document throughout their organizations in the development of HMI design for console operations.
