About the Author
Dr. J.P. Singh is the Member Secretary (Executive Head)of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), a Statutory Body set up by the Government of India in 1992 through an Act passed by the Parliament. The main functions of the RCI are to regulate and standardize curricula and training of professionals in the field of rehabilitation of the persons with disabilities. Apart from being a Doctorate holder in the area of education, he is having a aster degree in Engineering. Dr. Singh also holds a Diploma in Business Management, Marketing & Sales and Foreign Trade. He has been intimately involved in the area of rehabilitation in India for the last 27 years. He has contributed tremendously in developing assistive Devices for the Locomotor Handicapped in the Country while he was working as a Design and Development Engineer in Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India Limited, a Government of India organization. He Aids and appliances to the Rural disabled. Presently, he is engaged in Framing Policies and planning for human resource development, for Creating a better service delivery mechanism for the disabled in India.
