The production of synthetic drug compounds is an important area of modern pharmaceutical technology. Advances such as the increased use of peptide-based pharmaceuticals, significant in new concepts of therapy in recent years, are incorporated into this review of synthetic and semi-synthetic pharmaceuticals. The second volume has been planned to cover the biogenic drug field. The choice of drugs has been made on two accounts - frequency of prescription, and importance of position on the market.
