Part One contains a number of studies in theoretical physics which were independent of the interpretation of wave mechanics and were mainly written before my recent. Change of attitude. In my discussion, particularly of the nu clear field and of atomic particles, the reader will find a sum mary of ideas on the constitution of particles which I have developed for more than 20 years and also on the theory of the subtractive field, to which I devoted particular at tention between 1949 and 1952.
