One man's obsession with Scotland. One Shamanic detective. One twelfth century monk catapulted through time to present day England. A devil, a megalomaniac maths lecturer and the world on the brink of economic collapse. It sounds a convoluted tale, but it all fits together - honest. And what's more, while it doesn't actually explain how time travel is possible, it does at least prove that it does exist. Irrefutably. That is, of course, if you believe the word of a man whose business card contains no contact details, who smokes mushrooms through a pipe and who talks to Mooses. And what has any of this got to do with Scotland? An occult-mystery-adventure-armchair-holiday-thriller, Bread has been described as Douglas Adams meets Hunter S Thompson. A must for any collection!
About the Author: Stephen Brown popped into the world in England, November 1974 with the umbilical cord around his neck. Since then he has struggled to build himself an alternative world, a kind of surrogate womb for him to exist in. A professional horse-mumbler (not quite as good as a fully-fledged Whisperer), he also spends a large portion of his time either backpacking around the far-flung countries of the world or creating something out of these experiences. Along with writing, painting and wood-carving he also performs massage and Reiki, offering healing and initiations where required or desired. He has travelled to and lived in exotic countries since the tender age of six and intends to carry on doing this for as long as is humanly possibly. Right now his exotic country of choice is... Belgium He confesses to being deeply interested in indigenous cultures from all over the world and draws influences from as many alternative outlooks and perspectives on life as possible. He has written three novels to date, along with numerous short stories, hundreds of poems, songs and haiku, all of which should be available as soon as he can bring some semblance of order to it all!
