This is an allegorical tale about a white activist during the sixties and seventies in South Africa. The central character Josh's engagement with the struggle for the liberation of the masses is depicted in episodes which characterise the times: campus activism, the township clashes with the security police, SWAPO, and the assassinations. He does not escape the long arm of the law and finally pays the ultimate price. Told in a narrative style, without being political, the story has symbolic and theistic associations.
